How Do I Care For My Aligners?

One of the many, many reasons why aligners have become so popular over the last few years comes down to the fact that they’re very easy to care for – especially when compared to traditional braces.

All you have to do is remove your aligners before each meal, eat and then brush your teeth BEFORE putting the aligners back on. To clean the trays themselves, simply brush them with water only. (Toothpaste is abrasive and will scratch up the aligners.)

Who is a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

Almost Everyone!!!

Thanks to the way that aligners precisely fitted to your teeth (acting almost like a second set of skin, so to speak), Invisalign is a great treatment option for people in ALL age groups!

What Happens After My Invisalign Treatment?

The answer to this question will vary in large part depending on the treatment plan that you choose in association with Dr. Younis. You will need to wear retainers to prevent your teeth from shifting again. Don’t worry – Dr. Younis will go over all of this with you BEFORE your treatment begins so that you have the most complete information.

How Long Does Aligner Treatment Take?

This too will vary depending on the patient – meaning that the type of bite and/or other orthodontic issues that someone has will determine how long treatment will be.

What Happens if I Lose an Aligners?

It happens but it’s not a problem. Contact Younis Orthodontics immediately for instructions or so that a replacement set can be ordered.  Obviously, try to keep track of your aligners to keep your treatment on schedule.

How is Invisalign Different From Braces?

Traditional braces use wires and braces to correct your bite. The braces are attached to your teeth and are connected to one another via the wires. The tightness of the wire is what shifts your teeth into their desired position.

Invisalign, on the other hand, uses a set of clear plastic aligners that you swap out every week. Each set moves your teeth little by little until, eventually, your treatment is complete and you finally have that perfect smile you’re always wanted. For this reason, most patients also find aligners to be far more comfortable than traditional braces, too.

Does Invisalign Fit Into an Active Lifestyle?

Absolutely! Invisalign can definitely fit into ANY type of lifestyle. After a brief adjustment period of a few days you can do anything and everything you were doing before aligners.

If you play sports, for example, you don’t have a thing to worry about – just remove your aligners before a game and you’re ready to play. You should still wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth, however.

Likewise, you don’t have any dietary restrictions. Eat whatever you want! – just be sure to brush and floss your teeth after every meal before putting the aligners back in.

You can even remove your aligners for special occasions – like if you’re having photographs taken of your family – so the fact that you were wearing Invisalign isn’t captured for eternity.
