Invisalign in Martinsburg
Braces Need Not Apply
At Younis Orthodontics in Martinsburg, Invisalign® clear aligners with Dr. John Younis offer a nearly invisible way to realign your teeth. No braces needed! This modern treatment is comfortable, removable, and designed to fit seamlessly into your lifestyle.
The Breakdown on Invisalign
When you think about straightening your teeth, you probably call to mind images of braces connected via a series of wires. This is because most people are familiar with traditional braces. For years, this was the only effective way to correct a smile and bite.
Invisalign uses a series of small, clear plastic aligner trays you’ll wear in your mouth like a retainer. Those trays are created using sophisticated 3D imaging to the precise dimensions of someone’s mouth, ultimately allowing them to act as a custom “second skin” for their teeth.
How Invisalign Works
You’ll wear each set of custom aligners for one week before swapping them out for the next set in the series.
The aligner swap-outs are simple: You change the aligners out for new ones at home and simply continue wearing them for 20 to 22 hours a day as usual.
Each set gently and gradually moves your teeth into the desired position based on the personalized treatment plan that Dr. Younis design for you.
The Invisalign Advantage
While traditional braces technology has come a long way, aligner therapy has a number of advantages.
Removable
Aligners are totally removable—meaning that they’re both easy to clean AND that you don’t have to watch what you eat for the duration of your treatment.
You can eat absolutely anything you’d like, so long as you:
- Remove the aligners before you eat
- Brush and floss your teeth (or, at least, rinse with water)
- Put the aligners back in
Discreet
Because the aligners are removable, you can take them out for special occasions—like weddings, school dances, or just your family photos.
Fits Your Lifestyle
Last but not least, Invisalign clear aligners allow you to be yourself. Whether you have to speak in public for your job, or just want to keep your treatment private, aligners are the perfect alternative to braces.
No Dietary Restrictions
Although braces require very careful food choices, you can eat all your favorite foods with Invisalign. Since you take the aligners out to eat, you don’t have to give up popcorn, corn-on-the-cob, chewy candy, and all the other foods you’d have to avoid with braces.
Caring for Your Aligners
Because aligners are removable, cleaning and maintaining your orthodontic treatment has never been easier. However, you still have a few rules to remember:
Aligner Care 101
Cleaning your aligners daily can be the difference between a great treatment and a not-so-great treatment.
Using a soft-bristled toothbrush and warm water, gently scrub your aligners of any debris or build-up. Don’t use hot water, as it can warp your appliance.
Appointments Matter
Keep your regularly scheduled appointments to help us monitor your treatment and make any necessary adjustments. Dr. Younis will review your smile’s status to ensure everything is on track.
Keep It Stored
When you’re not wearing your clear aligners, make sure to properly store them in their case — during dinner, while brushing, or any other time you’re not wearing them to reduce the risk of losing or damaging them.
Handle With Care
Your aligners are durable enough to handle the task of easing your teeth into a straighter, healthier smile — but that doesn’t mean you should handle them roughly.
Always use two hands when removing or putting in your aligners, starting at the back of your teeth and gently moving forward. Never use your teeth to press your aligners into place as this can damage them.
