Treatment

Are You a Candidate for Orthodontic Treatment?

Early Treatment

Orthodontic treatment can start as early as age 7. In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends your child have an initial orthodontic evaluation at age 7. At this early age, orthodontic treatment usually isn’t necessary, but early examination can detect certain problems before they get worse and allows Dr. Younis to see how your child’s teeth and jaws are growing. Beginning treatment at the right time ensures the best result and the least amount of time and expense.

Adult Treatment

Just in case you’re not aware yet, orthodontic treatment isn’t just for kids!  Teeth shift at all ages and you are not alone.  Adults are the fastest growing group seeking orthodontic treatment.  Adult treatment can improve your appearance and self-confidence.  We offer a variety of treatments that are designed just for you including Invisalign clear aligners and clear braces.

Younis Orthodontic’s new techniques and clear appliances fit your busy lifestyle. Treatment is less visible.  Treatment is more comfortable. There are fewer visits and treatment time is shorter. It’s never too late to do something about the smile you want.

Here are some of the most common orthodontic problems that may cause you to seek treatment:

Underbite
Underbite

An underbite is characterized by the lower jaw extending too far out, causing the lower front teeth to bite in front of the upper front teeth.

Crossbite
Crossbite

When the upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth, which may cause accelerated tooth wear and tear and crooked jaw growth.

Overbite
Overbite

The upper front teeth extend too far out over the lower front teeth, sometimes causing the lower front teeth to bite into the roof of the mouth.

Crowding
Crowding

Crooked, rotated and overlapped teeth. Crowding occurs when teeth don’t have enough room. It is the most common reason for treatment.

Spacing
Spacing

The opposite of crowing, spacing problems may be caused by missing teeth, teeth that are spread apart and teeth that are undersized or too small.

Openbite
Openbite

The upper and lower front teeth do not meet when biting. This is a very serious growth problem that should be addressed early whenever possible.

Braces

Metal Braces

Metal braces are made of high-grade stainless steel. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive.

Clarity Advanced Clear Braces

Unlike metal braces, each Clarity brace is made of a translucent ceramic material that blends in with your natural tooth color. They do not stain or change color. They are as sturdy as they are attractive and work exactly the same as metal braces. Clear braces are also beneficial to patients who have allergies to certain metals.

Braces Care & Emergencies -We're here for You

Braces Care

While you are wearing braces, please avoid eating hard foods, sticky foods and foods high in sugar. Hard foods can break or damage the wires and brackets, and sticky foods can cause the wires and brackets to break loose. Minimize the amount of sugary foods you eat; the sugar can cause tooth decay and other related problems.

It is very important to maintain good oral hygiene throughout the length of your treatment. Braces, wires, bands and retainers can all trap food particles and make it difficult to brush or floss away plaque. Careful brushing and flossing, preferably after every meal and snack, is the best way to prevent plaque build-up, tooth decay and gum disease.
